Webcast Releasing Data and the Report
WICHE’s 10th edition of Knocking at the College Door, which projects the number of high school graduates out to 2037, will be released on a webcast December 15th. The projections are made possible in part by support from College Board. Incorporating reported data through academic year 2018-19 (high school class of 2019), this edition provides a much-needed glimpse of what graduation rate improvements have meant for the number of high school graduates between 2010 and 2019—in particular for typically underserved students such as those who are Black, Hispanic and other racial minorities. The data illustrate the changing student landscape over the medium and longer term through projections for K-12 enrollments and high school graduates from 2020 to 2037. Population contraction and expansion patterns play out differently across the country and non-White public high school graduates occupy a larger role in overall trends.

WICHE recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic is having major impacts across education. Post-COVID data are not yet available, but WICHE experts will discuss on the webcast how anecdotal information and reports of enrollment changes could affect projections as well as plans for incorporating more recent data as they become available. Attend this webcast for a summary of key trends and discussion about how you can access and use the online data, report and chart tools in planning for what’s next, including funding cycles, equitable recovery and preparing for inevitable longer-term population changes.

If you have a question about the trends or data that you would like to be addressed during the webcast, email Knocking@wiche.edu.
